Prevalence of hepatitis B virus infection and some related factors among adults aged 20-60 years old in Quang Binh province in 2018

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) disease is one of the dangerous infectious diseases with a high prevalence worldwide as well as in Vietnam. This cross-sectional study aimed to describe the prevalence of HBV infection among 1120 adults aged 20 – 60 years old in 4 communes of two Minh Hoa District and Quang Trach District, Quang Binh Province from Januarry, 2018 to August, 2018. The research subjects were interviewed using a structured questionnaire and tested for HBsAg antigen. The results showed that the prevalence of HBV infection was 7.9%. There was a statistically significant association between hepatitis B virus infection and participants’age, the risk of HBV infection was higher in the age group of 41-50, the people with a low education level and those with a history of tattooing had a higher risk of HBV infection. It is necessary to promote vaccination as well as propagate disease prevention for groups at high risk of hepatitis B virus infection.
