The lack of communication about knowledge and behavior is one of the factors contributing to the increase in hepatitis B (HBV) infection in the community. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of communication intervention to
increase knowledge and behavior preventing HBV infection of people in Kon Tum City in 2019. The community intervention study was applied to evaluate the effectiveness of the interventions on knowledge and behavior related to HBV prevention on 440 adults (> 18 years old) in 2 wards of Truong Chinh (intervention) and Nguyen Trai (control). The change between after and before the intervention (DID) was 9.85 times in knowledge and 9.60 times in behavior. Interventions made better impact on
knowledge of married group and with income > 10 million/month group and more effective in men’s behavior in preventing HBV infection. The effectiveness of the intervention shows the need to continue to maintain communication interventions and expand across the province.
