Abstract

The retrospective study aimed to describe the Dengue vector population based on vector density and Breteau indices collected monthly from 1/2011 to 12/2020 in 04 provinces of the Central Highlands region. The mean density index (DI) and Breteau index (BI) were calculated among sentinel sites of the vector surveillance system. The results showed that every month the presence of dengue vector Aedes aegypti was reported. DI ranged from 0.2 to 0.44 mosquitoes per household; BI ranged from 13.7 to 31.2. The dengue vector indices were started annually increasing from May to October, which peaked in July. The vector indices in the rainy season (DI (0.23 - 0.46), BI (20.8 - 29.0) were higher than the dry season with DI (0.19 - 0.28), BI (13.2 - 21.1). In 2016, the vector indices were reported highest with BI (average: 24.3; maximum: 186.7); DI (average: 0.33; maximum: 1.9). The average of vector indices monthly, in the central highland region were lower compared with the threshold level (BI < 30, DI < 0.5). The highest indices were recorded in Kon Tum and Gia Lai and the lowest indices were in Dak Lak and Dak Nong provinces.
