Abstract

Vietnam is a country in the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS), where malaria and dengue hemorrhagic fever are a major public health problems that deserve attention. In Khanh Hoa and Binh Phuoc provinces, there are many areas where malaria and dengue hemorrhagic fever coexist. In this study, we used a cross-sectional descriptive method combined with laboratory analysis to describe diversity and blood-feeding habitat of mosquitoes in Khanh Hoa and Binh Phuoc Provinces, 2020 - 2022. In Khanh Hoa and Bình Phuoc provinces, the results showed that 74 species and subspecies belonging to eight genera were collected. Especially in this study, we collected some individuals belonging to 5 species of An. barbirotris s.l., An. maculatus, An.peditaenitus, An. dirus, An.minimus operates at 06 am - 09 am by cow bait trap (CBT) in Khanh Hoa. This is different from previous studies that only collected Anopheles mosquitoes in the time frame from 06 pm- 06 am. There were differences in the number of mosquito species as well as the number of individuals of each species between the dry and rainy seasons, forest habitats and village habitats. These findings will guide epidemiologists and entomologists in the treatment of disease-carrying mosquitoes as well as monitor mosquito-borne disease indices in the field at specific time frames more effectively.
