Continuous training status and demands of doctors and nurses at Vinh City General Hospital, 2020

A cross-sectional study was conducted at Vinh city general hospital in 2020 to describe the current status and the needs of continuous training among 272 doctors and nurses. The results showed the doctors, nurses participated in continuous training under 12 periods/year had accounted for the highest proportion of 40.8% (doctors: 41.1% and nurses: 40.5%) and over 24 periods/year had 20.6%. The department didn’t have staff was the main reason of doctors and nurses couldn’t attended training, seminars/conferences (64.7%). Most of them aspired to receive short-term professional training (doctors: 96.7% and nurses 98.8%). In which, the most training demands were on specialized topics through (doctors: 4.25 point and nurses: 4.21 point) direct training such as training/technology transfer (3.81 point), seminars/conferences (3.80 point) and discussions with experts (3.75 point). The results of this study implied that the hospital needs to develop a detailed annual training plan including opening training sessions, transferring techniques and organize specialty seminars at the hospital.
