A cross - sectional study was conducted among 700 female sex workers (FSW) in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in 2018 to determine the overal and type-specifc prevalence of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infection in this population. The results showed that the overal prevalence of any HPV among FSW in Vietnam in 2018 was 26.4%. Among HPV infected FSW, infection with more than one type accounted for 69.4% and only one type was 30.6%. The most common types of HPV among FSW were HPV- 52 (9.8%), HPV-66 (7.6%), and HPV-68 (7.6%). The proportions of infection with two high-risk types, HPV-16 and HPV-18 were 4.0% and 1.9%; the two low-risk types of HPV-6 and HPV- 11 were 1.3% and 2.1%, respectively. The study provides information for the early prevention program of cervical cancer and the HPV vaccine for this high-risk population of HPV.
