Abstract

A cross - sectional study from 11/2021 to 6/2022 describes the status of knowledge, attitudes, and practices about some contraceptives and their related factors of preventive medicine students at Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy. All students from the first to the sixth year of preventive medicine at Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy were selected. Among 208 students enrolled in the study, the proportion with good knowledge, burning attitude, and good practice about contraceptives was 13.9%, 32.0%, and 8.7%, respectively. The prevalences of incorrect and incomplete knowledge, attitude, and practice among Preventive Medicine students about contraceptive methods of interest are high. The independent factors related to students’ knowledge, attitude, are academic year from 4th to 6th and recidence in the city. It is necessary to organize the teaching of knowledge about reproductive health and contraceptive methods to students, increasing the source of information on students’ access to contraception. Regular activities and exchanges are needed to enhance knowledge and improve student attitudes and practices about contraception.
