Abstract

A cross - sectional study of 375 inhabitants in Yen Chau district, Son La province in 2019 used a questionnaire to describe some factors related to knowledge and practice on rabies prevention and control measures among inhabitants. The result showed that: the gap vaccination for dogs of households was associated with an education level below high school (OR = 4.97; 95% CI: 3.15 – 7.83) and occupation non-cadres and employees (OR: 2.66; 95% CI: 1.45 – 4.88). People had poor rabies prevention practices related to gender (Male: OR: 1.77; 95% CI: 1.15 – 2.73), ages group (from 40 years old and under: OR: 1.47; 95% CI: 1.02 – 2.42), Ethnicity (Thai: OR: 3.34; 95% CI: 2.12 – 5.28), Education level below high school (OR: 7.46; 95% CI: 4.56 – 12.20),
occupation is not a public employee (OR: 6.62; 95CI: 3.04 – 14.4) ). To enhance the people’s knowledge and practice of rabies prevention, the local authority needs to have more direct and active communication measures for those with an education level below high school, men, and people of ethnicity.
