A cross - sectional study was conducted among 1,064 women at reproductive age from 18 - 49 in the Northwest Region, Vietnam including 4 provinces: Hoa Binh, Son La, Dien Bien, and Lai Chau from 9/2018 – 3/2019 to describe HBV infection status. Results showed that the prevalence of present infection of HBV among women at reproductive age from 18 – 49 in the Northwest region is 10.7%, whilst the prevalance of past and present infection of HBV is 53.6%. Following the findings, the proportion of the present infection of HBV in Hoa Binh (13.0%) and Son La (12.0%) are higher than those in Lai Chau (8.8%) and Dien Bien (8.9%); those of the ethnic groups of Dao and Kho-mu are 18.2%, higher proportion of HBV infection than the other groups (around 10%); and having relatives with liver diseases, having STDs in the past, and pregnancy are the associated factors. The risk of HBV infection among women at reproductive age from 18 – 49 in the Northwest region is at high level. Further analytic studies are necessary to be implemented to identify risk factors for proper interventions.
