A cross - sectional study of weekly Aedes mosquito collection by Gravid Aedes Trap (GAT) and aspirator (MHCT) in 180 households in 6 communes and wards in Hanoi city and Nam Dinh province since July /2018 - 5/2019 aimed to evaluate the use of Gravid Aedes Trap in vector monitoring in Hanoi and Nam Dinh. The total number of mosquitoes caught by both methods was 4930, of which Ae. aegypti captured by GAT trap was 1357 higher than 3.69 times captured by MHCT. The total number of Ae. albopictus captured by GAT trap was 3072, 22.9 times higher than that caught by
MHCT. In Hanoi and Nam Dinh both recorded a higher number of mosquitoes caught by GAT traps than by MHCT in both species. Indicators of mosquito density, and house indices with mosquitoes by GAT traps were higher than those of MHCT. The sensitivity and specificity of the GAT trap are also higher than that of the MHCT capture method. Catching dengue vector mosquitoes with GAT traps does not depend on the investigator, is highly stable and easy to use, so GAT traps can be considered and widely applied in surveillance of denguetransmitting mosquitoes in Vietnam.
