Dengue fever is transmitted to humans through bite of mosquitoes infected with dengue virus (DENV). This study aimed to describe the circulation of DENV serotypes in the Tay Nguyen region from 2003 to 2020 through retrospectively 5,345 DENV serotypes by RT-PCR/rRT-PCR. The results showed there were four types of DENV in study period, in which DENV2 accounts for the highest proportion (47.48%), followed by DENV1 (38.15%); DENV4 (12.97%) and the lowest was DENV3 (1.40%). The occured of DENV types was quite similar in months of the year, but DENV3 and DENV4 serotypes did not appear annually. DENV4 tended to increase in recent years, especially in outbreak years. From 2003 to 2020 in the Tay Nguyen region, there were circulation of all 4 DENV serotypes, but mainly DENV2 and DENV1 in recent years. It is necessary to continue to monitor the circulation of DENV for better dengue fever prevention.
