Tuberculosis clinical symptoms and testing among close contacts in 4 districts of Hai Phong in 2018

A cross-sectional study was carried out among tuberculosis patients’ household members and people in close contact with tuberculosis patients in the community who were detected, diagnosed and treated in the tuberculosis program aims to describe tuberculosis clinical symptoms and testing among close contacts in 4 districts of Hai Phong in 2018. It showed that
the symptoms of suspected tuberculosis were present in the research group with the following rates: cough 46.3%; cough with phlegm 23.1%; cough with blood 0.5%; chest pain and difculty breathing 14.6%; fever 1.4%; sweating at night
6.7%; fatigue 20.1%. Test symptoms in the studied subjects: The rate of having a suspected tuberculosis result among those with x-rays was 12.5%. The group of household contacts with tuberculosis bacteria in the Xpert gene test result was 12.4% higher than that of the community contact group 11.9%. 31 patients, accounting for 0.69%, had sputum examination. The rate of positive (+) and (++) accounted for 9.7%; and the rate (+++) was 3.2%, therate of negative results was 77.4%. The tuberculosis contraction rate of the studied subjects was 0.6%; that of the household contact group was 0.6%; the contraction rate of the community contact group was 0.4%; the difference is not statistically signifcant.
