Survey of factors affecting the achievement of glycemic control goals in patients with type 2 diabetes at Hai Phong International General Hospital in 2020

Type 2 diabetes is reported to be one of the chronic noncommunicable diseases that are difficult to control and manage despite patient adherence. Therefore, A retrospective cross-sectional study of 10,459 electronic medical records with the aim of describing patient characteristics and factors affecting the achievement of glycemic control goals in patients with type 2 diabetes at the Hospital. Hai Phong International General Hospital 2020. Through our analysis, we found that the rate of reaching the treatment goal of the hospital's group of patients with type 2 diabetes was 44.6%. The average HbA1C index of the study group was 7.7 ± 1.6. Metformin is the most used active ingredient to treat type 2 diabetes in our study group with the rate of 38.6%. Multivariable logistic regression analysis showed that the factors of advanced age and the use of antidiabetic drugs significantly affect the achievement of the goal of glycemic control with an Odd ratio of 0.996, 0.4, and p, respectively. -value < 0.05. Our study has provided reference information for clinicians in the prognosis and monitoring of treatment of patients with type 2 diabetes.
