The study analyzed 4722 microbiological test results at Hai Phong International Hospital from 2018 to 2020 to describe some characteristics of beta-lactam antibiotic resistance of bacteria. Through analysis, our study found that the majorly isolated strains were Escherichia coli (26.2%), Staphylococcus aureus (12.5%), and Haemophilus influenzae (8.6%). Escherichia coli strains were resistant to Beta-lactam antibiotics with a high rate (from 1% (Imipenem) to 29% (cefuroxime)). By constract, Streptococcus pneumoniae strains were detected to be sensitive to this group with a resistance rate of 0%. Cefuroxime was the antibiotic with the highest resistance rate at 42.7%. All isolated strains were recorded to be sensitive to carbapenem antibiotics with low resistance rate. Among them, Acinetobacter baumannii and Pseudomonas aeruginosa showed the antibiotic resistance rate from 4.2% to 5.2%. Our research results have provided data on beta-lactam antibiotic resistance of typical bacteria in hospitals to assist doctors in choosing and using antibiotics safely and effectively.
