Abstract

A cross-sectional study was conducted in 2020 in Hanoi to describe the situation of gestational weight gain and some related factors among woman in Hanoi 2020. Results show that: the proportion of normal gestational weight gain is 38.0%; the proportion of excessive gestational weight gain is 19.1%; the proportion of inadequate gestational weight gain is quite high at 42.9%. Some factors associated with inadequate gestational weight gain are maternal age, salary income per month, pre-pregnancy weight and pre-pregnancy BMI. Therefore, it is necessary to have some communication solutions about the appropriate nutritional status before pregnancy, monitoring weight gain during pregnancy for women of reproductive
age, especially those who are planning to prepare for pregnancy.
