Nutritional status and some related factors among children under 5 years old in Ba Vi district in Hanoi 2019

Abstract

The objective of this study is to describe nutritional status and some related factors. This was a cross-sectional study of 1517 children under 5 years old at Ba Vi District in Hanoi in 2019.. The research results showed that the prevalence of underweight, stunting, wasting and overweight and obese in children under 5 years old in Ba Vi District in 2019 were 9,1%, 14,9%, 5,4% and 3,4%. The percentage of underweight and stunted children in the study is quite high compare to other districts in Ha Noi. Age and birth weight were the factors related to malnutrition in children under 5 years old in Ba Vi District. The percentage of malnutrition children in Ba Vi District is higherthan the other areas such as Ha Noi, Thai Binh, Phu Tho. Therefore, it necessary to propose measures in order to improve the nutritional status of children in Ba Vi and especially to take care of the pregnant women.
