A descriptive cross-sectional study on 929 people aged 18 - 59 years old was conducted to evaluate the nutritional value of adults’ diets in Cau Giay district, Gia Lam district, Hanoi and Vu Thu district, Thai Binh province in 2022. Individual multi-pass 24-hour dietary recall method was used to collect dietary data over 3 non-consecutive days. 82.3% of subjects did not meet the recommended dietary allowances (RDA) for energy, this rate was higher in cities than in rural areas. The average animal protein/total protein ratio was 53.3%, and the plant lipid/total lipid ratio was 46.7%, not meet the RDA for protein. There were differences in the ratio of animal and plant protein and lipids among the three regions. The proportion of subjects who did not meet the RDA for vitamins and minerals was still quite high, there is a difference in the rate of subjects who did not meet the RDA for zinc and vitamin B6. The diet of adults in the study areas was lacking and unbalanced. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen communication-education nutrition and guide people on reasonable and balanced diets to ensure recommended needs.
