Vaginal foreign bodies in children at National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology from 2018 to 2022

The study was carried out with the aim of describing the clinical characteristics and management results of female cases with vaginal foreign bodies. A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 19 female pediatric patients diagnosed with vaginal foreign body treated at the Department of Gynecology and Endocrinology at PSTW Hospital for 5 years from 2018 to 2022. The results showed that in the five years from 2018 to 2022 has 19 pediatric patients were diagnosed and treated for vaginal foreign bodies in the Department of Gynecology and Endocrinology of the National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the age of 2 - 9 years old, with 68.4% being under 6 years old. The common symptoms of pediatric patients when they came to the clinic were vaginal discharge 63.2% or prolonged vaginal bleeding 15.8% and vaginal red blood in 21%. The time from 1 month to 2 years accounted for 62.45. Vaginal foreign body accurately found by microscopic vaginoscopy. The small size endoscope does not hurt the surrounding tissues. All pediatric patients were diagnosed by vaginoscopy to remove foreign bodies and clean the lesion area. Thus, important symptoms to diagnose a vaginal foreign body in female patients are vaginal discharge, prolonged vaginal bleeding, and unresponsive antibiotic treatment.
