Knowledge, attitudes about hepatitis B prevention among pregnant women and postpartum women in Vinh Bao district, Hai Phong in 2021

A cross - sectional descriptive study was to describe knowledge and attitudes about hepatitis prevention in pregnant women and postpartum women at health stations of Vinh Bao District Health Center, Hai Phong City from January 1st to June 30th, 2021. The survey results on 404 subjects showed that the average age of the study participants was 28.5 years old (SD: 0.25; 18 - 42 years old); the percentage of women participating in the study who knew their hepatitis B carrier status was 3.5%; the rate of having good knowledge about hepatitis B was 54.9%; the rate of having a positive attitude about hepatitis B was 65.8%; the rate of participants in hepatitis B screening test during pregnancy was 45.3%; 94.5% were HBsAg negative. The percentage of pregnant women and postpartum women with knowledge and attitudes was still low, so it is necessary to strengthen counseling and communication about hepatitis B for women of childbearing age and pregnant women.
