An randomized controlled study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of a health education communication intervention in preventing the transmission of Hepatitis B virus (HBV) in Quang Binh province from September, 2018 to December, 2019. Results showed a significant improvement in knowledge, attitudes, and practices related to the prevention of HBV transmission among the intervention group after intervention compared to the baseline and to the control group. The effectiveness indicators of the intervention group were significantly higher compared to those in the control group across all surveyed items. The intervention’s effectiveness scores ranged from 119.3% to 274.2% across all survey items. It is necessary to strengthen the role of health education communication activities to improve people’s knowledge in the community about HBV and measures to prevent HBV infection.
