Trends in pharmacist education in the world

Aiming at improving pharmacy education toward global integration, this paper review the trend in pharmacist education worldwide in the beginning of the 21st century. Patientcentered pharmacist education is the major trend in pharmacy programs in many countries, including 6 years, PharmD program in the US, Canada, or Bachelor/Master of Pharmacy in
Australia, and UK. Some countries applied the PharmD model, but not only addressed pharmaceutical care, or maintained bachelor degrees in pharmaceutical science. Other countries maintain a traditional approach to train pharmacists adding pharmaceutical care as one of the pathways in their curricula. In conclusion, patient - centered pharmacist
education is the trend to be the core curriculum in pharmacy programs worldwide with different education models.
