The situation of health human resource in governmental health sector at Nghe An province in 2020

A cross-sectional study was conducted from January 2020 to August 2020 to describe the current situation of health human resources in public hospitals in Nghe An province. Research results on 491 governmental health showed that the number of female health workers was higher than that of men (70.5% compared to 29.5%), the health workforce aged 30 - 50 accounts for the highest percentage (60.4%) and the lowest percentage was > 50 years old (9.8%). The number and structure of health workers were not really reasonable: The number of health workers/10.000 inhabitants was 32.9, the number of doctors/10.000 inhabitants was 7.2, the number of nurses/10.000 inhabitants was 11.6, the number of pharmacists/10.000 inhabitants was 0.4. The number of health workers/beds at the provincial level was 0.7; district level was 1,2. The number of doctors/beds, nurses/beds at the provincial level were 0.2 and 0.3, respectively; at the district level were 0.3 and 0.4, respectively. The ratio of doctors/nurses, midwives, technicians was 0.45. The ratio of pharmacists/doctors was 0.06 and the ratio of pharmacists/intermediate pharmacists was 0.26. Highly qualified health workers are working mostly at the provincial and district levels. The Department of Health needs to increase high-quality human resources and have a plan to allocate appropriate human resources to meet the demand of health care for people as well.
