Characteristics of patients with abdominal trauma due to road traffic accident admitted to Nghe An Friendship General Hospital in 2020

A cross sectional study was conducted on 333 patients with abdominal trauma caused by road traffic accident (RTA) and admitted to Nghe An Friendship General Hospital in 2020 from the 1st of August, 2019 to the 30th of July, 2020. The study’s purpose was to describe the RTA characteristics of the patients. The result showed that the majority of patients were male (73.3%) at the age of 15 - 44 (59.5%); the type of vehicles involved in RTA were abundently motorcycle (75.1%); the time of the accident is more likely to be from 18 pm to 24 pm (34.6%); the percentage of people who did not wear their helmets when the accident occurred were 25.2%; and 28.8% of patients had taken alcohol when the accident happened. Therefore, this study was conducted in order to make suggestions for reducing the abdominal trauma case caused by road traffic accidents.
