Knowledge, attitude about adolescent reproductive health and safe sex practice of students at Phan Dang Luu High school, Hai Phong City, 2021

A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 435 students from Phan Dang Luu High School, Hai Phong to describe studdent’s knowledge and attitudes about adolescent reproductive health and practice safe sex from November 2020 to June 2021. Research results showed that: the rate of students knowing safe sex is 86.9%; 66.7% of students using protection to prevent unwanted pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases; causes of unwanted pregnancy: not using contraception during sex (91.3%); do not know contraceptive methods (64.8%). Students consider it unacceptable to have sex and get pregnant at a young age with 46.0% and 76.6%, respectively. 11.3% of students had ever had sex and 67.3% of students used contraception for the first time. The percentage of students achieving general knowledge and attitudes about adolescent reproductive health was 63% and 52.9%, respectively. Conclusion: knowledge and attitudes about adolescent reproductive health are still limited. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen and diversify methods and content of communication to make students aware of adolescent reproductive health effectively.
