The study aimed to determine the prevalence of myopia and describe some related factors among secondary school students in Ba Don town, Quang Binh province in 2019. A schoolbased cross-sectional study of 799 students in grades six to nine was performed at 10 secondaryschools in Ba Don town, Quang Binh province in 2019. Our results indicated that the prevalence
of secondary school students with myopia accounts for 35.8%. Some factors associated with myopia among the students included family factors (family member with myopia with OR = 2.5; 95%CI:1.8 - 3.6), time spent on after-school tutoring programs (time spent more than 1 - 2 hour/day with OR = 1.6; 95%CI: 1.1 - 2.3), playing video games status (play game < 1 hour/ day with OR = 1.5; 95%CI: 1.1 - 2.1, play game 1 - 2 hour/day with OR = 2.2; 95%CI: 1.4 - 3.5, play game > 2 hour/day with OR = 3.2; 95%CI: 1.6 - 6.5). The prevalence of myopia among these students is quite high. Thus, appropriate interventions should be conducted to deal with the issue of school-age myopia.
