Service satisfaction and related factors among private methadone patients in Nam Dinh province in 2018

A cross-sectional study was conducted among all 195 patients at a private methadone clinic in Nam Dinh, 2018, to describe service satisfaction and related factors. Study results showed that at a cut-off of 9/10 points as a satisfaction level, 42.6% of patients were satisfed with treatment services of a private methadone clinic in general. For various aspects of the services, patient satisfaction rates ranged from 30% to 65%. The factor “confdentiality of patient information” had the highest satisfaction rate (62.1%), and the lowest was “convenience and easy access to additional services” (29.2%). Factors related to patient satisfaction were “alcohol use” and “wait to take the pill every day”, non-drinkers had a higher level of satisfaction than alcohol users (OR, 2.57 (1.26 - 5.24)), and those who had to wait have lower satisfaction level than those who did not (OR, 0.47 (0.04 - 0.22)). Private methadone clinic should regularly counsel patients about the harms of alcohol use during treatment.
