The study used laboratory techniques to describe molecular biological characterisitics of Extended - Spectrum Beta-lactamase
(ESBL)-producing intestinal bacteria isolated in Thanh Ha commune, Thanh Liem district, Ha Nam, in 2015. The results showed that the percentage of ESBL-producing intestinal bacteria strain carrying CTX-M and TEM genes were predominant on different type of collected samples. The corresponding rates were 47.6% and 37.0% respectively (from 265 fecal samples of healthy individual); 42.4% and 55.6% (from 125 animal fecal samples); 4.4% and 1.3% (from 160 samples of processed food), 14.8% and 13.2% (from 182 dringking water samples) respectively. Analyzing genotype relationship of 88 third generation cephalosporin resistant Enterobacteriaceae strains using PFGE technique showed that 14 genotypes were identifed including genotype I to genotype XIV, of which, detected 28 bacteria strains homologous to over 80% in genotype V. There is a need to conduct further studies to identify the relationship and transmission of the third generation cephalosporin resistant Enterobacteriaceae in the community.
