Abstract

Management and continuity of care for people with diabetes at the primary care play an important, long - term and cost - effective role in health care. This cross - sectional study aims to describe the current status of diabetes management and some related factors at health stations in Tra Vinh province in 2022. As a result, the percentage of health stations with diabetes management activities meeting the requirements of Decision No. 3756/QD-BYT is 46% (46/100), the average number of indicators is 9.2 out of 12 targets, the lowest is 6 and the highest is 10; 100% of health stations have implemented diabetes prevention, management and treatment. The health stations ensure that 89% of essential drugs for patient management are delivered. There are two factors related to satisfactory results of diabetes management: staff in charge of program management receive regular training and health stations have two drugs to treat diabetes with different mechanisms. The management of diabetes at health stations in Tra Vinh province reached the average level required by the Ministry of Health. It is necessary to invest in equipment, drugs for treatment and to regularly train the staff to make the health stations more effective in managing diabetes in the community.
