Status of exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease management at Quang Ninh General Hospital in 2022

Abstract

A cross - sectional study was conducted on 381 patients treated at Quang Ninh General Hospital from December 2021 to December 2022 aiming to describe the management of exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Data were collected by face to face interview and extracted from medical records. The results showed that the propotion of male was 72.2%, the average age was 68.7 ± 9.8 years old, the mean duration of disease was 7.1 ± 6.3 years. The rate of patients complying with periodic re-examinations was 80.3%. The rate of patients complying with rehabilitation exercises was 36.5%. The rate of patients using the correct dose was 87.1%; correct usage was 50.4%. Rates of annual flu vaccination and pneumococcal vaccine every 5 years were 6.0% and 4.7%, respectively. The Respiratory Clinic - Quang Ninh Provincial General Hospital needs to strengthen the consultation and communication each time the patient follow-up examination.
