Abstract

A cross - sectional descriptive study was carried out from Feb. to Jun. 2022 to describe the risk of depression and analyze some factors related to individual characteristics of students at Ky Lam high school, Ky Anh district, Ha Tinh province. Research results showed that the risk of depression according to the CES-D scale in students was 57.6%. Female students had 1.84 (95% CI: 1.19 – 2.93) times higher risk of depression compared with male students (p < 0.05). Students who regularly stressed before each exam were 3.35 (95% CI: 1.78 – 6.31) times higher risk of depression compared with students who never pressured before each exam (p < 0.001). And students with unhealthy status in a past week had 3.39 (95% CI: 1.39 – 8.29) times higher risk of depression compared to students with healthy status (p < 0.05). The risk of depression in students was quite high, so the schools need to take measures to reduce stress for students. Students themselves need to create healthy living and relaxation habits for themselves after tiring studying hours.
