Abstract

Smartphone addiction tent to increase with adverse effects on the health and quality of students. This cross - sectional study aims to describe the current situation and some factors related to smartphone addiction among secondary and high school students in An Duong district, Hai Phong in 2021. General
information and smartphone addiction scores were collected by interviewing 848 grade 6 - 12 students. The results showed that the average smartphone addiction score of students was 101.65 ± 21.97, scores were seen higher in female students compared to males (103.71 ± 20.65 and 99.11 ± 23.26). It was seen that signs of depression are related to the high score of smartphone addiction among participants.
Therefore, it’s necessary to develop close cooperation between families and schools as well as to conduct research on a larger scale to both detect early signs and prevent the effects of smartphone addiction among secondary and high school students.
