Effictiveness of usage and acceptability to menstrual cups among women aged 18 - 40 in Hanoi, 2021

A cross - sectional descriptive study was conducted on 100 women aged 18 - 40 years old who attended gynecological examination or consultation at the National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology during the period from June to October 2021. Research objectives is to describe the result of usage and acceptability to menstrual cups among women living in Hanoi. The results showed 87% participants use the cup effectively after 3 cycles without remarkable side effects. There are 97.8% women could have normal sleeps or deeper sleeps while using menstrual cup. About 40% women reported to maintain their exercises while inserting the menstrual cup. In terms of approval and satisfaction, the acceptance rate is 93%; The average satisfaction score of the cup after 3 cycles reaches to 86%. There are 89% of women are willing to advise their friends to use a menstrual cup. It is recommended to conduct
further studies at a larger scales of sample size, time of study, with an expanded audience of those living in rural areas, having an IntraUterus Device (IUD). There should be forums for women using menstrual cup to share their own experiences.
