Abstract

At the risk of invasion of Chikungunya virus from the border of districts next to Cambodia, the authority of An Giang province was established a sentinel surveillance site from October to December 2020, and 6 cases of Chikungunya were recognized in the community. The study aims to describe of 6 cases infected with Chikungunya virus, their clinical and epidemiological characteristics. The results showed that these cases were founded in Long Binh town and Quoc Thai commune, where bordering Cambodia. Their clinical symptoms were mainly fever (6/6 cases) and joint pain (5/6 cases). These cases were not from epidemic areas and had no medical history. The results around the patient’s house and the public area found that Aedes aegypti female mosquito and larvae. With 6 female mosquitoes collected in Quoc Thai commune, 1 sample was positive with dengue virus. The detection of 6 Chikungunya cases during the last 3 months in 2020 in both as well as the index of vector density was high, the risk of Chikungunya has
invested into An Giang. The establishment of the sentinel surveillance site of Dengue – Zika -Chikungunya is essential to assess the risks and control diseases.
