Knowledge about reasonable nutrition of women of childbearing age in the coastal area of Nam Dinh province in 2020

A cross-sectional descriptive study to describe some knowledge about reasonable nutrition on 468 women of childbearing age in some coastal districts of Nam Dinh province in 2020. The results showed that the proportions of women who known about nutritional imbalances that would lead to chronic energy deficiency, zinc deficiency, overweight-obesity and anemia were 54,9%, 68,2%, 93,8%, 93,6% respectively. The proportion of known about the causes of chronic energy deficiency, overweight-obesity, anemia, and zinc deficiency was still low. 57.5% and 35.9% of women thought that eating adequate and reasonable meals during the day was important and very important respectively. The proportion of understanding about the importance of diet and its effects on health was high, however the proportion of knowledge about some nutritional imbalance consequences and it’ causes was low. It is necessary to strengthen communication to improve the knowledge of women of childbearing age in nutrition and health care.
