A cross-sectional study of 216 diabetic patients in Thai Nguyen University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital with the aim of analyzing some factors relation between plasma nonHDL-C and cardiovascular risk in type 2 diabetes in Thai Nguyen University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital. Results show that: mean levels of nonHDL - C was 4.00 ± 1.09 mmol/L and prevalence of increased plasma nonHDL - C was 46.3%. The mean levels and prevalence dyslipidemia including total cholesterol, triglyceride, HDL-C, LDL-C were 5.11 ± 1.09 mmol/L; 44.9%, 2.65 ± 1.63 mmol/L; 71.3%, 1.10 ± 0.28 mmol/L; 44.9%, 2.94 ± 0.97 mmol/L; 44.9%, respectively. It also showed significant non achievement of nonHDL - C targets of > 4,1mmol/L (40.6%) even if LDL-C targets were achieved. The results showed a significant positive correlation between nonHDL - C and LDL-C (r = 0.73; p < 0,05) as well as 10-year risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (r = 0.23; p < 0.05). It is recommended that nonHDL - C to be used by clinicians for routine clinical purposes in type 2 diabetes.
