A cross-sectional descriptive study on the medicine belief in general and diabetic medication in outpatients at Thai Binh Medical University Hospital from May to September in 2020. Data on 268 outpatients were collected by using a prepared questionnaire. The results showed that the average score of patients' trust in the doctor's drug abuse and the overall harm of the drug were 8.5 ± 2.2 and 9.2 ± 2.5, and the score on the need and anxiety about diabetes medication were 19.5 ± 2.8 and 18.3 ± 4.0, respectively. Related factors of concern about medication were women with higher concern about medication than men; patients with fewer comorbidities were more worried about diabetes medication, and insulin users tended to be more worried about medication than patients taking oral medications. Intervention programs need to be developed to bring more knowledge to the patient, it ensures that they are fully equipped with knowledge, and it need to avoid unnecessary worries which affect the patient's ability of adherence to treatment.
