Implementation capacity for the Nutrition Activities at Department of Nutrition of Centers for Disease Control in 63 provinces/cities, 2020

A cross - sectional descriptive study to assess the implementation capacity for the Nutrition Activities at Department of Nutrition - of Centers for Disease Control in 63 provinces/ cities, 2020 through a self - completed questionnaire that was developed according to the criteria of the performance checklist for the provincal center for disease control in 2020. The capacity to implement nutrition activities according to the functions and tasks of the provincial CDC varies from province to
province and from region to region. Most of the capacity to implement nutrition activities in CDC was assessed at the average level (50 - 74 points) accounting for 69.8% and the good level (75 - 89 points) accounting for 27%. The Red River Delta and Northern Mountainous Regions (70.6 points) had the highest score in terms of nutritional implementation capacity, the lowest was in the Central Highlands with a score of 62.2. Most of the CDC have implemented enough activities to improve the nutritional status of mothers and children, prevent micronutrient defciency (93.6%), but only 52.4%; 61.9% and 38.1% of the CDC implemented activities on school nutrition, nutrition for non-communicable diseases, and emergency nutrition. There are 65.1% and 46.0% of the total CDC that carry out multisectoral coordination and socialization work on nutrition activities. It is necessary to continue training to improve the quality of staffs implementing nutrition activities nationwide.
