Solutions to reduce health inequity for ethnic minorities in Ha Giang province

This qualitative study aimed to describe solutions in order to reduce health inequities for ethnic minorities (EMs) was conducted in Ha Giang province. A total of 11 in-depth interviews and 03 group discussions from 3 groups of subject who are experts in health care of ethnic minorities; implementer of health care policy for ethnic minorities at three levels, provincial, district and commune and ethnic minorities were implemented in May 2024. The results suggest several solutions to reduce health inequities, including: 1) Improving the capacity of health workers, especially at the grassroots level; 2) Increasing investment in infrastructure, transportation, electricity, schools, medical facilities, and livelihoods opportunities for ethnic minorities; and 3) Enhancing the effectiveness of health education and communication strategies for ethnic minorities. These findings provide evidence for policy makers and implementers at all levels to develop and implement appropriate policies that contribute to achieving the goal of health equity in health care for ethnic minorities.
