Abstract

Knowledge, attitude and practice (KAP) study of women aged 18 to 45 years old with household registration in Quang Nam province was carried out in 2021. The aim of this study was describe knowledge, attitudes and practices in prevention of hookworm. There were 1980 women who were interviewed and completed the questionnaire. The questionnaires revealed that information resources on hookworm infection included televisions and radio 14.4%, newspapers and internet 12.27%, public health officers 10.51%, relatives and friends 7.98% and others 0.3%. Twenty point sixty-six percent of the population had a good level of hookworm knowledge. The attitude in hookworm prevention and control were also at a good level 71.46%. The practice in hookworm prevention and control were 1.62%. Conclusion: The persons studied have a high level of hookworm knowledge and positive attitude. However, the practice in hookworm prevention and control were at a low level. Therefore, improvement is required regarding education are necessary to improve people’s understanding.
