Factors related to vaccination of children under 1 year old in Thuy Son commune, Thuy Nguyen district, Hai Phong City in 2019

Abstract

A across-sectional descriptive study of over 130 mothers and 130 children aged 12- 23 months to describe some factors related to vaccination status of children under 1 year old in Thuy Son commune, Thuy Nguyen district, Hai Phong city, 2019. The results showed that there was no relationship between the full vaccination of the child and their mothers such as age, education level and personal income. The factor related to the child’s full immunization status is their mother’s concern about the vaccine safety vaccinewith OR = 3.16, 95% CI: 1.3 - 7.7. The children of mothers concerned about the vaccine safety are more likely vaccinated by private providers with OR = 2,82, 95% CI: 1,02 – 8,58). The knowledge of child’s mothers on vaccination, especially on the possible side effects after vaccination, and on vaccination schedule need to be strengthened.
