Analysis of the cost - effectiveness of treatment of end-stage renal disease (ESDR) patients at Cao Bang General Hospital in 2021

Abstract

This study determine the cost - effectiveness of the treatment of end - stage renal disease (ESDR) patients at Cao Bang general hospital in 2021. A cross - sectional descriptive study was conducted on 127 patients with a definitive diagnosis of end - stage renal failure. The patients were directly interviewed using a predesigned questionnaire during the period from August 2021 to May 2022 and their medical records, and discharge slips. The results showed that the average total costs of end-stage renal disease (ESDR) patients were 114.780.624 ± 30.737.916 đồng (4858,45 ± 1301,08 USD). Health insurance pays là 90.674.686 ± 28.256.417 đồng (3838,09 ± 1196,04 USD). Total expenses paid by the patient were 924.105.938 ± 2.481.493 đồng (1020,36 ± 105,04 USD). Therefore, it is necessary to have policies to lower treatment costs to help these patients continue treatment to prolong their life.
