Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out some maternal and fetal factors that affect the accuracy of Yakubova’s formula in fetal weight estimation. This is a cross - sectional study performed on 104 mother - baby pairs at the Labour ward of Hai Phong Obstetrics Hospital. Fetal weight in - utero was estimated by Yakubova’s formula and the actual birth
weight was also recorded. The percentage of absolute error was the index used to evaluate the accuracy of Yakubova’s formula in fetal weight estimation, this index ≤ 10% was considered an accurate estimation, and this index > 10% was considered an inaccurate
estimation. Maternal and fetal factors were compared between these two groups, the accurate estimation group and the inaccurate estimation group. Results 76% of cases were in the accurate estimation group. The actual birth weight and BMI pre-pregnancy were factors affecting the accuracy of Yakubova’s formula in fetal weight estimation.
