Abstract

The study aims to describe the situation of using family - based health insurance in Gia Nghia city, Dak Nong Province from 2017 to 2019, based on the method of extracting and analyzing data from the insurance database system of the Social Security Office of Dak Nong Province. The results showed that the average number of people purchasing family - based health insurance increased over time and accounted for 19.3% of the total number of people purchasing health insurance. Females purchased more family - based health insurance than males with statistical significance and those aged > 60 were 12.6%. Data on medical examination and treatment using family-based health insurance at Dak Nong General Hospital showed that the leading diseases are chronic diseases that cannot be cured or often reoccur, such as hypertension, and type 2 diabetes.
These diseases required periodic examination and the cost of purchasing health insurance was much lower than the cost of medical treatment. The rate of 16.3% in the age group > 60 years old. The purchase of family - based health insurance is for the benefit of individuals. Improve communication so that the community understands the important meaning of health insurance and national social security policy.
