A cross - sectional descriptive study was performed on 731 samples of drinking water taken from localities representing 7 geographical regions in all country in 2019 to determine the fluoride concentration in drinking water sources in Vietnam, it is used as the basis for planning the community’s dental caries prevention strategy. All samples of drinking water resources were analyzed for fluoride concentration by the fluoride Ion-Selective Electrode method. The results showed that all the drinking water samples had a low concentration of fluorine, almost below 0.20 by province/city and 0.30 ppm by 7 geographical regions. This might be the cause of the high prevalence of dental caries in the community. It is necessary to develop a more effective fluoride use policy to prevention of dental caries in the Vietnamese community.
