A cross - sectional descriptive study was conducted from August to December 2020 at 156 microbiology laboratory departments with 3,133 laboratory staffs working for provincial health facilities in Vietnam aims to describe human resources working at the microbiology laboratories of provincial health facilities, 2020. Data were collected through self- administered questionnaires, sent to the Microbiology
Laboratory Department of provincial health facilities at https://enketo.ona.io/x/5kL1sF1S. The results showed that the number of person working at the microbioly laboratory per per department ranged from 15 - 19 staff. The age group of laboratory staffs from 30 to 40 years old account for the highest proportion (ranging from 41.5 to 59.1%, depending on health facilities). Most of laboratory staffs had university diplome, with major staffs were trained on medical microbiology diagnosis. 70.6 – 96.5% of microbiology laboratories had staffs in charge of biosafety monitoring. However, proportion of staffs who were trained and had biosafety certificates was still low, especially in private hospitals (35.3%).
