Wish for overseas working of bachelor’s nursing students from Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy in the academic year 2020

Abstract

Objectives: This study aimed to describe the wish of overseas working of bachelor’s students from Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy in the academic year 2019 - 2020 based on self-flled questionnaires. Using the cross descriptive method there were 257 nursing students from the frst year to the 4th year. Results: 37.7% of the students wishing to work abroad, of which Japan and Germany are the two countries where students mostly want to work at the rate of 52.5% and 36.2%. 62.3% of students have no need to work abroad because they like the working environment in the country, the majority of students who do not want to leave their family account for 52.5%. The main student’s purpose wishing to work abroad is to earn money to serve themselves and their families, accounting for 48.5%, 37,1% is rate of learning for improving foreign languages 37.1%. 53.1% of students believe that the biggest barrier for students not to go abroad after graduation is due to poor language skills, 28.8% of students are not confdent in their professional capacity, 11.3% of students do not know the information about the program to work abroad. Therefore, the university needs to improve career guidance for students so that students can make the right choice after graduation.
