Knowledge and practice related to medical solid waste management of staff and some related factors at Hai Phong Psychiatric Hospital in 2020

Abstract

A cross-sectional study aimed to describe the knowledge, practice related to medical solid waste management of staff at Haiphong Psychiatric Hospital in 2020. Results showed that 98.1% of health care workers (doctors, nues, assistants) and 78.5% of cleaners had the correct knowledge on management. Percentage of health care workers who had correct practice was higher than cleaners with p < 0.05. There were statistical signifcant relationships (p < 0.05 - 0.001) between professional levels and being trained with the general knowledge and practice on management of medical solid wastes. In order to improve the situation, the hospitals should be strengthened with training and supervision of implementing regulations on medical solid waste management for HCWs.
