The difculties of diabetes patients in COVID-19 pandemic: The quanlitative research on perpectives from diabetic patients in Vietnam

This research aimed to describe the difculties of patients with type 2 diabetes in the COVID-19 epidemic in Vietnam in 2020.
The study used qualitative research method on 23 patients with type 2 diabetes in Vu Thu district, Thai Binh province. The study obtained the following results: 20/23 subjects in the study feel anxiety during the epidemic, fear that they are more susceptible to COVID-19 infection and when COVID-19 disease, the severity of the disease will get worse. In addition, patients have difculties in managing diabetes mellitus such as: regular check-ups, diet, physical exercises and sports, and the burdens that patients face in family and society. The research has shown that the difculties faced by type 2 diabetics during the COVID-19 epidemic are mental burden, diabetes management, family and social relationships. In order to reduce the difculties caused by diabetes in the COVID-19 epidemic, departments and mass organizations need to have policies to support family economy, create confdence for the patient and health programs. improve the quality of life for patients in particular and patients’ families in general.
