The study describes the current state of knowledge on patient safety among 273 healthcare workers at Dien Bien Provincial General Hospital during the period of 2020– 2021. Employing a descriptive epidemiological method through a cross-sectional survey, the study yielded the following results: the overall knowledge level of healthcare workers on patient safety was 54.9%. Specifically, 62.5% of healthcare workers correctly understood medical incidents; the average knowledge score on the causes of medical incidents, relative to the maximum score, was 2.83±1.2/4. Additionally, 73.1% of healthcare workers had accurate knowledge about the timing of hospital-acquired infections. The average knowledge score on the use of infusion pumps for patients, relative to the maximum score, was 1.87±0.95/3. The level of healthcare staff’s knowledge regarding patient safety remains limited. The study recommends strengthening training and retraining programs for healthcare workers to enhance their foundational knowledge on patient safety and infection prevention.
