Abstract

Febrile rashes syndrome is one of the most common syndrome in healthcare facilities and usually caused by viral infection. The aim of this study is to identify some viral etiology causes of suspected measles/rubella cases in Bac Giang province, from 2013 - 2019 using ELISA to detect virus-specific IgM antibodies to measles, rubella, andenovirus, enterovirus and parvovirus B19; molecular tests to detect viral nucleic acids of measles, rubella, adenovirus, enterovirus, parvovirus B19 and human herpes virus 6/7. The results showed that the average morbidity rate of febrile rashes syndrome in the period 2013 - 2019 in Bac Giang was 4.75/100.000 population. There were 73.69% cases of febrile rashes syndrome identified at least one viral infection. Measles virus (47.03%); enterovirus (3.33%); Parvo B19 virus (9.37%) were the most frequent causes of febrile rashes syndrome. Co-infections were detected in 10.5% of positive cases. The study provided the baseline data on viral etiology causes of febrile rashes syndrome suspected measles/rubella cases to the decision makers choosing the effective preventive measures based on the local situation.
